Do Good: Donate to Your Local Goodwill Store

RV travelers already live a somewhat minimalist lifestyle when they’re on the road, but that doesn’t mean travelers aren’t carrying around dozens or hundreds of items they don’t need. In fact, many travelers pick up new clothing items, souvenirs and travel items on their adventures, leaving old items unused and unwanted.

Donating to Goodwill is one of the best ways to get rid of old items while knowing that they won’t go to waste. Even more, your Goodwill donations can be used as tax deductions, so travelers can benefit in multiple ways.

What Is Goodwill?

Goodwill is a non-profit organization with the mission of enhancing the quality of life for people and their families across America and beyond. The company provides employment, trains and rehabilitates those with limited employability and helps those whose resources have been depleted for any reason.

Goodwill stores sell gently used clothing and household items in a retail setting, so shoppers can get incredible deals on name-brand items, and Americans can stay employed.

How to Donate

Donating to Goodwill is easy. The company provides a store locater on their webpage, so you can find the Goodwill donation center nearest you, whether you’re at home or traveling. The company has also spread donation bins across the country, but it’s important to give to the bins that have the Goodwill logo and contact information on them. Many other bins support for-profit organizations, making your donation less helpful to those in need.

Get a Tax Deduction

Donating to Goodwill doesn’t just make you feel good, it saves you money. Don’t forget to pick up your receipt from the donations attendant when you drop off your goods. This receipt can be used to claim a tax deduction at the end of the tax year.

Oklahoma Corn Mazes Everyone Should Visit This Fall

The maze’s theme changes every year, so you never know what the maze design will be until you arrive. The Orr Family Farm is located in Oklahoma City, and tickets can be purchased online.

Reding Farm

Reding Farm, in Chickasha, is home to the largest corn maze in all of Oklahoma. The maze opened on Sept. 25, and will be open until Nov. 1, providing non-stop entertainment for the families who visit. This year’s Oklahoma football-themed maze is guaranteed to throw visitors for a loop.

In addition to the corn maze, visitors can enjoy a hay ride, a ride on the Cow Train, wandering through the pumpkin patch or shopping for fresh fall produce grown on site.
