The Benefits of Financing an RV at Leisure Time

financing is easy at Leisure Time

Have you always wanted an RV or travel trailer, but are just not sure if you can afford it? Come see the experts at your Oklahoma City RV dealer and we’ll help you find the perfect camper and can offer you a range of financing options.

But why should you finance over saving up and paying cash or liquidating assets? That’s easy.

One thing many people are not aware of is that you can claim your new RV on your taxes. When you finance your new RV, you may be able to claim it as a second mortgage on your income taxes therefore reaping the tax benefits. Of course, you should always consult your tax advisor before claiming such an item. But the basic rule is simple. As long as it has a bathroom, bedroom and cooking area, you can claim it as a qualified second residence.

If you finance through an RV lending specialist, your down payments can generally be lower. There are other factors to consider that might determine payments such as your credit profile and the type, age, and cost of the travel trailer in question. Usually lenders only require around a 10% down payment. Finance terms can be longer, but payments are lower, which, in turn, will help you afford that dream RV you have always wanted.

Make sure you know what your credit looks like before going in to talk to the finance department. This can help take the guesswork out of what they might be able to offer financially. Of course, if you would prefer to just pay cash up front, you can eliminate the interest rates and the hassle of financing. But it helps build credit as well. So if your credit is less than spectacular you could benefit greatly from talking to a finance advisor to purchase your new camper.

RVs Bring Families Together

Leisure Time RVs bring families together

There is nothing that brings a family together as much as traveling. RVing is a wonderful way of making lasting memories. While camping and exploring the open road as a family, you get a rare opportunity to enjoy each other on a whole new level.

Due to the day-to-day stresses that life throws at us, most families don’t get the time to spend with one another. Traveling together can help your family reconnect, especially if it’s a little disconnected. Exploring the USA is a great way to get to know your spouse, children, parents, or other loved.

Take those moments while sitting around the campfire roasting marshmallows for gooey s’mores to pass down family stories and to laugh and tell jokes. By doing this your family becomes close in a way that can’t be done at home. Everyday distractions interfere more and more when it comes to connecting with family. Everything from the TV and cell phones to computers and the latest video games are distractions. With these gone, you can really focus on what matters. Bonding is essential for success and happiness at home.

By planning a simple weekend getaway with the family, you can start to slow down and work on reconnecting as a family again. The time you find to do activities together is what makes a tight family unit. Play some kid games, go on hikes, explore nature, play spot the animal, and just let loose and let your inner child out. Who knows what might come out of it? Pass down that sense of discovery and adventure. By starting this easy tradition, you will instill your children with a lifetime respect for nature and an appreciation for family time. Deep down within all of us, children to adults, there is a primal need for adventure, exploration, and discovering the world. RVing is just the thing that stimulates it.

Even if you can’t afford an RV, that doesn’t mean you should dismiss the idea. RV rentals are always available. Plan your next trip with an RV in mind and get some family bonding time on the road.

This fabulous brand has it all! Both the gas and diesel models of these fine RVs offer affordable luxury, comfort, quality, durability and reliability. This company was started by two men who blended their names together to bring you the Newmar name. During the 1970s, they introduced the Kountry Aire fifth wheel which made them one of the largest and first fifth-wheel manufacturers.

This sterling company has grown from a company with only 6 employees to over 900 employees today. They even opened a second 144,000 square-foot facility in the fall of 2004 which also holds employee offices, conference rooms and training rooms. Their top-of-the-line motor coaches are offered at many fine dealerships today. Here are a couple models we have on site.

We proudly offer the 2014 Newmar Bay Star Sport 2903. This is one of the smaller options we are offering at only 29 feet in length. It features a pillow top mattress, 29” LED TV and a power slide awning. This motorhome will sleep 4 people comfortably.

We also have a 2014 Newmar Canyon Star 3920 that is a bit larger at 39 feet and will sleep 6 people. It has dozens of modern features such as a central vacuum, Sirius radio capability and a dash radio with navigation system. The light gray seaglass interior décor complements the light cabinetry wonderfully. It has two slide-outs for extra space and comfort.

Of course these are only 2 of the many Newmar brand motorhomes we offer. Come on down and take a look at our full lineup as well as our other brands for your next camper, travel trailer or motorhome!

Extra Space Project

Everyone loves feeling like they have more space. Sometimes it is difficult to get that much-needed open feel that an RV lacks. These simple do-it-yourself ideas are great ways to make your RV feel more spacious.

Simple changes in your camper’s lighting can have a giant impact on how big your space will look. Use natural light whenever possible. Natural lighting can be your RV’s best friend. Get rid of old blinds or curtains that block sunlight. Replace dark curtains with sheer ones that provide a visually pleasing look while still giving you that natural sunlight. Doing this alone will make your space look larger and feel more open without having to spend a lot of money. Also, clean all of your windows thoroughly and replace any that might be tinted or yellowed from age. Try hanging lights from the ceiling. This will keep your space illuminated without taking up valuable space. Overhead lights are perfect for RVs since they free up a lot of space typically taken up by floor lamps.

Mirrors can make your space look larger. Give the idea of depth by using a focal point and turning your mirror towards it, this. Mirrors also reflect natural and artificial light to make a space feel brighter during the day as well as at night. Try placing a mirror near a window in your camper to reflect the outdoors. You will be amazed just how effective this can be.

Avoid the clutter! You will want to keep your space tidy and organized. Nothing makes a small space feel more restricted than having too much stuff. You don’t need to pack your entire house with you. Sometimes it does more harm than good. Try to refrain from filling your camper walls with tons of pictures. Try one or two paintings or pictures for a taste of home.

We hope you’ve enjoyed these helpful do-it-yourself tips from your Oklahoma City RV dealer!

Chickasaw National Recreational Area

Summer is in full swing. There are National Parks to see and campgrounds to visit. It’s time to take the fifth wheel out for an adventure! The Chickasaw National Recreation Area plays host to 6 different campground areas all around the Lake of the Arbuckles. This area has attracted people here since the Native American days. This quaint outdoor park has acted as a refuge for over a hundred years.

The Chickasaw National Recreation Area is home to many kinds of wildlife, plants and grasslands. Common trees in the area include hickory, eastern red cedar, oak and elm. Several varieties of animals roam the area including the white-tailed deer, nine-banded armadillo, flying squirrel and bull snakes. So bring the binoculars and keep a watchful eye for these marvelous creatures!

There are also many activities to do around the park such as boating, camping, hiking, fishing, bird watching, hunting and more. Chickasaw has dozens of scenic trails for hiking ranging from easy to moderate in difficulty. All trails are available year-round and the best viewing time for wildflowers is from March to October.

Speaking of camping, what campsites are nearby? As mentioned previously, there are a good few camping areas around for your fifth wheel. The largest one is the Buckhorn Campground which has 4 loops with a total of 134 sites. 42 of these sites have electric hookups which are $24 a night. The second largest campground is the Rock Creek Campground which hosts 105 campsites. A few of them can accommodate RVs, but are mainly for tent camping. The Myriad Botanical Gardens is not just a beautiful place to stroll through to observe the gorgeous landscaping. Last year, park officials began offering a free summer movie series that are family-friendly. It’s back this year and they are showing a wealth of wholesome movies every Wednesday through July and August. With movies like Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Forrest Gump, it will surely please everyone. This is the perfect time to chill under the stars and spend time with family. There will be food vender trucks and others on site as well but an admission fee is never charged.

Everyone loves animals. Lions. Tigers. Bears. Oh my! Most major cities have at least one zoo so we can enjoy these breathtaking creatures anytime we want as well as protect them from endangerment. The OKC Zoo, which is the oldest zoo in the Southwest, is offering free admission on July 17th in honor of their Sales Tax Appreciation Day. Also on Wednesdays during July and August, you can take advantage of their “groovy retro” for only $1.

What about those of us who love the arts? Shakespeare in the Park is performing two different plays in July; Ring Round the Moon and King John. Both plays cost $15 per adult and $10 for students, seniors and military. Ring Round the Moon is a play about a brother who tries to help his twin’s loveless marriage. It is filled with wit and charm and will leave you with an unexpected happy ending. For more information on these wonderful plays, visit

Alabaster Cavern State Park

Summer means vacationing to most people. Especially those with families who only have the summer for a much needed break. Why not take your motorhome for a trip across the state? Or even out of state? Below is a great idea of a wondrous place you can vacation to that is RV-friendly.

To the Northwest corner of Oklahoma is a not-so-little place called the Alabaster Caverns State Park. This 200-acre state park is the home of the largest natural gypsum caves in the world that is open to the public. There are several types of alabaster found here including white, pink and black which is the rarest. Black alabaster can only be found in three places in the world: Oklahoma, Italy and China.

These caves are home to 5 species of bat including Cave Myotis, Western Big Brown Bat, Eastern Pipistrelle, Western Big-eared Bat and the Mexican Free-tailed Bat. The Mexican Free-tailed Bat migrates to the cavern in the spring to bear their young. They return to Mexico in the fall. During late July, you can attend an event to watch over a million of these bats flying out into the night sky to feed on insects. The event price includes a dinner of hot dogs with all the fixings.

They hold tours of the caves from 9AM to 4PM on the hour. There are many activities to do here including hiking, camping, wild caving and picnicking. They have lantern tours on Saturday evenings as well that are $16 per person and limited to only 20 people per evening. For reservations for the caves, camping or more general information for these caves, call them at 580-621-3381.

Be sure to check out this majestic and rare corner of the world. Pack up your Oklahoma City RVand enjoy what you find!
