Oklahomans have access to some of America’s best RV getaways, and there’s possibly no better place to visit in the fall than the South. The weather’s warm, the sun is still shining and typically crowded summer getaways are virtually tourist-free. So start planning your fall RV getaway to one of these historic, southern destinations today.

Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston’s historic downtown and area beaches fill up with tourists in the summertime, but those beaches go bare and restaurant reservations become available in fall. Spend your days exploring the historic downtown shops, restaurants and lavish southern estates or escape to the Atlantic Ocean in one of the area’s quaint beach towns. The James Island County Park offers a convenient place to park your RV between downtown Charleston and Folly Beach.

New Orleans, Louisiana

Spring and summer are popular times to visit New Orleans, but you can beat the stifling heat and crowds by visiting in the fall. Enjoy the five-star Cajun cuisine without having to make a reservation and explore the city without being overwhelmed by the more party-oriented visitors of spring and summer. Stay right in the heart of the city at the French Quarter RV Resort or seek solitude at Pontchartrain Landing.

The Outer Banks, North Carolina

North Carolina’s Outer Banks are a 200-mile-long stretch of beaches that are unlike anywhere else in the country. The area beaches are packed with tourists, umbrellas and beach towels in the summer, but they clear out in the fall leaving the warm weather and cozy water temperatures behind.

Campgrounds that were filled to maximum capacity months earlier clear out, so you and your family can kick back and relax. The Kitty Hawk RV Park, Cape Hatteras KOA, Hatteras Sands Camping Resort and countless other RV parks and campgrounds are ready and waiting for fall campers.
