Grilled French Toast Skewers

If you’re doing some campfire cooking as you travel in your RV, you’ve probably got a stable of tried and true recipes for any meal. But if you want to add some flair to breakfast, you need to try these french toast skewers. They’re on skewers that immediately remind you of roasting hotdogs or marshmallows and they’re easily customizable, letting you use the fruits and toppings that you like to use.

Grilled French Toast Skewers


  • 5 cups of 1″ crusty bread cubes, preferably stale and dry
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • skewers (either metal or bamboo that have been soaked in water)
  • Syrup, powdered sugar (icing sugar) or fruit to top skewers


  1. Preheat your grill or campfire grate to around 250 – 300 degrees.
  2. Brush grill with vegetable oil.
  3. Whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon in a medium bowl.
  4. Take about 1/4 of the bread cubes and place them in the egg mixture stirring to coat.
  5. Thread on the skewers and place aside. Continue until all skewers are made.
  6. Place skewers on prepared grill. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side or until golden brown.
  7. Serve with syrup and fruit or powdered sugar.
