Oklahoma City RVers: Do You Know Your Clearance Level?

Why is it important to know the clearance level of your Oklahoma travel trailer or RV? Take a look at what can happen if you don’t…

I’m pretty sure that this guy did not plan on taking out an entire bank drive thru, and had he known his clearance level, he wouldn’t have. So how can RV drivers avoid doing this? Simple. Go outside, climb on top of your motorhome, travel trailer or fifth wheel and measure it for yourself. Sure, it might be easier to just look it up in the owner’s manual, but don’t forget that the factory measurement does not take accessories into account. So the best thing to do is  find the tallest point on your vehicle and measure it from the ground up. I also recommend taking measurements from the front, middle and back just to be sure.

Once you have these, I suggest you write it down on a note card and tape it to the upper left side of your windshield. This way, you’ll be able to glance up at that measurement when you are deciding whether or not to go under that bridge or through that outdoor banking station.
