February Events

January has passed of 2013 and we’re finally in February, the month that reminds us of love and happiness. What better way is there to show that special someone you care than to take them around town in your Oklahoma City RV? Well, there are plenty of opportunities to do just that! Here are some of our favorite activities coming up.

Valentine’s Dinner & Dance

Speaking of love, next week is that love-or-hate holiday that everyone has an opinion on. If you don’t have plans, this one’s for you! At the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum on 63rd street, there is an evening of dining and dancing from 6-10 on the 14th. Not only will your evening be full of elegance but art as well. The galleries will be open for your viewing pleasure to add uniqueness the night. Interested? Don’t wait to book! Reservations will be required so make yours today.

Born To This Land

One night only, step back into the Old West with the sounds of days past. To accompany the music there will be a slide show of an era by David Stoecklein and Bob Moorhouse. This concert will be held at the museum on the 22nd at 7pm.

Youth Expo

Including your children in events can be challenging, especially the teens. So, we found a way for you to share the love with the whole family by attending the Oklahoma Youth Expo. This annual event is the world’s largest junior stock show, which means there is something entertaining for all ages! This will also be held at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum but unlike Valentine’s, it’ll be around until March 20th!

With so much going on in February, it’s difficult to leave your motorhome at the house! Which activities will you be making sure to attend? Let us know what we missed in the comments below!

Football Toasties

Many fans across America are getting geared up for Sunday’s big game festivities. Watching two teams battle it out for the top honor in football is exciting but it surely works up quite a hunger. Once you invite over a crowd to the outdoor viewing party hosted in your Oklahoma City RV, there will be plenty of hungry guests to feed! Take the heat off the cook by making a simple yet filling food that will delight everyone. Here we present you Football Toasties.

  • 1 package of French garlic bread
  • 1 bag mozzarella cheese
  • 1 package of pepperoni

While you’re at the grocery store picking up ingredients, head over to the bakery. Most stores have ready-made garlic bread in aluminum bags that only need to be heated. These will work perfectly but it’s also possible to use the frozen kind or homemade.

Preheat the oven to 350°. Separate 10 slices of the French garlic bread and lay them out on two pans. Take a handful of mozzarella and make an even layer across each piece. Then, place 3 pepperonis on the individual toasts. Place both pans in the oven for 5 minutes. Once the buzzer goes off, let cool for 2 minutes. Serve and enjoy!

RV Gaming

When it comes to long trips, there are several ways for passengers to stay occupied aboard an Oklahoma City RV. The typical methods of movie watching, card playing, and even sleeping eventually run their course. What’s there to do when the tried and true ways no longer appease? It’s time to find something a bit more engaging and fun!

One of the best ways to stay entertained and make time fly by is by getting sucked into a storyline on a game. Whether you prefer Xbox, PS3, Wii, or a handheld system like the PSP, there is something for every one of all ages. Here we offer a guide to get you started in the world of gaming and let you know it’s okay to be an adult with a controller in your hand.

Types for Trips

Gaming For All AgesThe first genre you might have thought of are racing or fighting themed, but technology has really raised the bar on what a system can do. With the integration of internet, gamers can connect with like-minded players around the world. There are two types that are exceptionally made for long trips; those would be role playing (RPG) and action adventure. The most popular RPG out there is a series called Final Fantasy. Each one has an in depth story and graphics that amaze. A beloved action adventure title is Assassin’s Creed, which would be particularly appreciated by history fans. While the activity itself is seemingly juvenile, the truth is that all the quests and puzzles force the brain to be used in an unusual way. The more active the cognitive functions are, the better.

Playing games can be more than just fun; they can also be good for relaxing or even educational. Have you experienced the joys of gaming in your motorhome? Let us know which selections you prefer in the comments below!

Decorating Your Oklahoma City RV

A pretty wonderful time of the year has come around, once again, and now there is much fun to be had. So pull out your box of lights, find a tree, and get some hooks because it’s time to decorate your Oklahoma City RV for Christmas!

A Spirited Tree

Perhaps the most prominent item on display would be the Christmas tree. With its bright colored balls and work of art at the top, how could it not be the first place you look? Proper time and care must be put into the selection of the holiday focal point. Don’t let that stress you out though. First, decide if you want a real or fake tree. If you plan to use your motorhome for more decorative purposes this season, perhaps a real one would not be your best option. There are now fragrances you can spray a plastic tree with that will create the ambiance of a real one, if that was a reason you wanted one of those. Additionally, these trees open you up to a world of possibility since they come in a wide array of styles. Some come pre-lit, some come in bright colors. There are a ton of options to please everyone.

Variety Is The Spice Of Lights

Similarly to the tree, lights also come in a multitude of choices. You may want multicolored to go on your tree and white with blue strands to outline your OKC motorhome windows. Maybe instead of just colors, you might be interested in mini flamingos or snowmen to line the counters and dinette.

As far as decorating goes, this is just the tip of the iceberg. There is such a creative license that goes with personalizing the holidays that there is a lot of room for trying something new. Got some decorating tips to share? Let us know in the comments below!

Going Green In Your RV

Being better to the environment doesn’t have to be limited to collecting bottles and cans in a bin at your traditional home. Going green and being more environmentally conscious can take place in any location, even while hitting the road in your Oklahoma City RV! With so many ways to make a difference in our landfills and airways, the potential is unlimited. Here are a few of our favorite ways to eliminate waste.

Energy

One common motorhome complaint is that the fuel used is massively destructive to the atmosphere. While it’s true that RVs do take more to get moving, there is something being done about it. As we speak, there are innovations being tested for a cleaner, more productive system where the RV can be classified as green itself. Being energy efficient is important to everyone and conserving what we already have is a big step. Another helpful solution to energy, which many RVers are getting into, is installing solar panels on the roof.

Recycling

Being out on the road doesn’t give you an excuse to throw everything in the trash. You should always treat every environment with equal respect and not throw away anything that could be recycled or repurposed even. Common recyclables are plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and paper. What many fail to realize that anything with a recycle sign can be turned into something new. Pizza boxes, milk jugs, plastic wrappers, plastic-ware, and wrapping can be taken. Even most restaurants now employ use of recyclable Styrofoam!

Compost

This one is easy as long as you have some yard to call your own at some point. Then, dig a medium hole a couple of feet or so deep and leave the dirt next to it. Each time you have leftovers from dinner or when you’re cleaning out food from your fridge, take it outside! Why fill up a plastic garbage bag with food when there are plenty of bugs that will take care of it for you? Dump the food in the hole; add some dirt and a little water. Now, you’ve got a functional compost pile that will continue to be of use for a long time to come.

This list just skims the surface on the green options available through today’s technology. How do you conserve resources in your OKC motorhome? Let us know your thoughts and tips in the comments below!
