The Best Fishing Spots in Oklahoma

The RV lifestyle and fishing trips go hand in hand, and summer is the best time of year to enjoy fishing adventures from the comfort of your RV. Oklahoma is home to more than 200 lakes and an abundance of other fishing holes, so fire up your RV and cruise throughout the state to these world-class fishing destinations.

The Glover River

The Glover River is southeastern Oklahoma’s only major free-flowing river, and it’s the best place in the state to catch smallmouth bass. The river’s emerald waters are a haven for¬†Ouachita-strain smallmouth, typically weighing between 1 and 3 pounds. Although, the deep holes in the river can house much larger smallmouth, largemouth and spotted bass. Wading is the best option in the summer months when the water is at its lowest.

Lake Texoma

The 89,000-acre Lake Texoma is a picturesque Oklahoma fishing spot that makes an ideal RV getaway. It’s the No. 1 striper bass fishery in the country, and the unbeatable scenery, 580 miles of coastline, marinas, nightlife and abundance of lake activities make it the perfect place for a summer family fishing vacation. The Peter Flats Campground offers RV sites, fishing, boating, bird watching, horse back riding, beach combing, grilling and an array of other activities for travelers.

Broken Bow Lake

Broken Bow Lake is so gorgeous that you don’t have to be an avid fisherman to enjoy yourself there. Although, if you’re looking to reel in some fish, the deep lake is home to massive largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass. The best places to fish along Broken Bow Lake are the long points that protrude into the river channels, so find the perfect spot and see if you can catch all three bass species in one day (known as an Oklahoma grand slam).
